Description

Battered by heavy rain for several days, two districts in province of Bangka Belitung were submerged by flood. In East Belitung District, flood inundated six sub-districts which included Simpang Renggiang, Kepala Kampit, Dendang, Damar, Gantung, Manggar. Meanhile in Belitung District, flood submerged Tanjung Pandan, Membalong, Sijuk dan Badau sub-districts. Based on the assessment report, the incident has affected 366 families or 3,773 people. Several bridges and main roads were also damaged which caused challenges in relief effort and distribution. About 1,300 people stayed inside evacuation posts. Despite the absence of local disaster management office, the relief effort has been continuously conducted with the support from the National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB). The BNPB mobilised personnel and helicopter to distribute the relief supplies. Relief fund (USD 37,500) was also given to the Bangka Belitung Province to support the relief effort.
