Description
The continuous rain over the last days has triggered flooding in many areas in Central Java Province. As reported, Kudus, Pemalang, Semarang, Kendal, Pati, Pekalongan, Batang, Jepara and Grobogan district have been widely affected since 14 January 2014. Based on BNPB report as of 26 January 2014, the flood & landslide impact is as follows: 1. Flood in Kudus; 13,909 evacuees in 49 evacuation centres; Flood also submerged major roads and caused transportation interruption. 2. Landslide in Kudus; 12 death, 2 missing and 6 damaged houses. 3. Flood in Jepara; 32,581 evacuees 4. Flood in Demak; 5,198 evacuees 5. Flood in Pati; 14,559 evacuees 6. Flood in Pekalongan; 4,000 evacuees 7. Flood in Grobogan; 1,093 houses were submerged 8. Flood in Semarang; 43 houses were damaged IMPACT - 12 death and 2 missing - (estimated) 74,791 people have been affected and evacuated RESPONSE - The local authorities provided assistance for the victim by establishing evacuation centre, evacuating the victims, distributing relief aid, etc.
