Description

West Sumatra Disaster Management Agency (BPBD West Sumatra) and Health Crisis Center of Ministry of Health reported a flash flood in Sijunjung Regency, West Sumatra Province, on 6 July 2018, 0500 hrs local time. Heavy rainfall in the past few days caused overflow in Langki River, Tanjung Gadang District of the regency. Flood inundated several areas in two villages of the district, i.e. Jorong Liambang and Jorong Muara Linggo Villages. On average, the flood depth was reported around 1 meter. A total of 41 families were affected and their houses inundated. Among them, 27 houses were heavily damaged and its inhabitants were temporarily displaced. There were no casualties due to this incident. Initial report suggests the loss due to this event may reach up to IDR 500 million, i.e. due to damage to a local bridge, 25 sheep, agricultural areas, and three local markets. Provincial Health Agency, BPBD West Sumatra, and Indonesian Armed Forces were on the ground to provide assistance to the affected population.
