Description
1. OVERVIEW: Volcanic activity has been reported for Marapi Volcano in Indonesia, [Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre (VAAC) DARWIN, BMKG, PVMBG] on 1454 UTC+7, 3 December 2023. Volcano Alert Level II as per PVMBG Volcano Alert Level.
2. LOCATION: Tanah Datar and Agam (Kec. Sungai Pua, Kec. Banuhampu, and Kec. Canduang), West Sumatra
3. IMPACTS:
- The height of the eruption column was observed to be approximately 3000 meters above the peak (approximately 5,891 meters above sea level). The ash column was observed to be gray in color with a thick intensity
- As of reporting time, the eruption is still ongoing.
- The eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 30 mm and a temporary duration of approximately 4 minutes and 41 seconds.
